Public Health Dentistry is the science and art of preventing oral diseases, promoting oral health and improving the quality of life through the organised efforts of the society. It is therefore concerned with the application of public health principles to whole communities rather than to individual patients/ community dentists are concerned with : indicators of oral health, evaluation of oral health care serviced development prioritisation, evaluation of technology, the promotion of clinical effectiveness and evidence based commissioning.
