This department deals with prevention and treatment of oral diseases in infants, children and adolescents including children with special health care needs. The department thrives to achieve a high and ethical standard of practice, promotion of practice, promotion of education and research.

It incorporates the management of physically and mentally challenged children in addition to the medically compromised individuals. The department thrives on an excellent work force in collaboration with Indian Dental Association, National Service Scheme, Voluntary organizations like Lions club, Rotary etc., by conducting dental awareness programs along with rigorous screening and treatment camps. The department is exclusively conducting teacher training programs to enrich their knowledge so that they can motivate their students.

  1.   Comprehensive oral health examination.
  2.   Diagnosis and treatment planning for oral health related problems in children and adolescents.
  3.   Behaviour guidance of child patients using pharmacological and non- pharmacological methods.
  4.   Preventive treatment based on caries risk assessment: Oral hygiene measures/ prophylaxis and instructions,application of Pit and fissure sealant and remineralizing agents.
  5.   Restorative treatment: Tooth coloured fillings for primary and permanent teeth, stainless steel crowns, advanced esthetic crowns.
  6.   Root canal treatment for primary and permanent teeth (pulpotomy, pulpectomy, RCT).
  7.   Regenerative endodontic treatment for decayed/ fractured immature teeth.
  8.   Screw supported fillings (Post & Core Restoration Cast metal/ screw post / Fiber Post).
  9.   Root canal procedure using hand and rotary endodontic instruments along with new generation apex locators for precise treatment.
  10.   Oral surgical procedures including extraction of unrestorable/over retained teeth and minor surgical procedures.
  11.   Preventive and interceptive orthodontic procedures: space management (clips for early milk tooth loss), space regaining, prevention and interception of oral habits, orthodontic correction of developing malocclusion.
  12.   Management of apprehensive children using laughing gas (Nitrous oxide)
  13.   Comprehensive management of medically compromised patients and children with special health care needs.
  14.   Complete oral rehabilitation, management of fractured jaw bones and pathologies of odontogenic origin under general anesthesia.
  15.   Age estimation of the child using appropriate diagnostic tools.
