Dental Camps 2023

January

On 10th january 2023 department of Paediatric & Preventive Dentistry conducted a school dental health screening and awareness camp at K.H. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, Chebrolu. Around 200 students were screened and educated about various dental problems along with the proper brushing techniques. Children with oral problems were given a scheduled appointment for the required treatment.

February

On 15thand 28th february 2023 screening and educational camp for students were organized at Sri patibandla sitaramaiah high school-Guntur and Moriah public school-Guntur respectively. Around 390 children were screened for caries and other oral problems following which lectures on selection of proper tooth brush and tooth paste, care to be taken to avoid trauma and demo on proper brushing technique were delivered.

March

As a part of world oral health day celebrations-2023 dental camps were organized with the theme “Be proud of your mouth”. Three school dental health camps were conducted which included camps in oxford IIT & medical foundation school, Millat english medium school, and NRI’s indian spring in Guntur. Two special children dental camps were conducted in Guntur at St. Ann’s manovikas kendra and Dakshinya institute for the intellectually disabled. Activities conducted in camps included screening of approximately 846 students along with live demonstration on brushing technique and lectures on diet and dental caries, progression of dental caries, management of avulsed tooth, balanced diet, relation of oral health and general health, selection of proper tooth brush and tooth paste, importance of visiting a dentist etc depending on the age. Along with education and awareness of the parents & care takers preventive treatments were also carried out. Children with oral problems were given yellow referral cards for the required treatment.

April

On occasion of World Oral Health Day celebrations 2023 dental camp were organized with the theme “Be proud of your mouth”. School Dental Screening and Awareness Program was conducted on 21-04-2023 in ZPHS, Jonnalagadda, Guntur. The program was intended to educate children about importance and techniques of tooth brushing. Around 66 children were screened for caries and other oral problems following which lectures on selection of proper tooth brush and tooth paste, care to be taken to avoid trauma, demo on proper brushing technique, tips for teachers to educate children about oral hygiene were delivered.Children with oral problems were given a scheduled appointment for the required treatment.

On 17th April 2023, screening and educational camp for students was organized at KKR Gowtham Concept School-Tenali. Around 293 children were screened for caries and other oral problems following which lectures on selection of proper tooth brush and tooth paste, care to be taken to avoid trauma and demo on proper brushing technique were delivered.

July

On 31-07-2023, department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry conducted  school dental health screening and awareness program in Lutheran English medium high school, Guntur. The program was started with a primary intention to educate children about various dental problems and brushing techniques which was followed by screening of 96children.Children who require immediate attention for their dental problems were referred to our institute for necessary treatment, free of cost.

August

Two school dental health camps were organized at Andhra Pradesh Residential High School (Urdu Boys) and NCR High School in Guntur. Activities conducted in camps included screening of approximately 63 students along with live demonstration on brushing technique and lectures on diet and dental caries, progression of dental caries, management of avulsed tooth, balanced diet, relation of oral health and general health, selection of proper tooth brush and tooth paste, importance of visiting a dentist etc depending on the age. Yellow referral cards were given for the needy.

September

As a part of Teacher’s day celebrations 2023, Ten dental health screening and awareness camps with the theme “Shaping minds- Inspiring future” were organized by the department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry. As teachers shape student’s personality, they were enlightened about dental care and mis-concepts of dental treatments. 170 teachers were screened and live demonstration on brushing technique and mouth rinsing, lectures on diet and dental caries, progression of dental caries, management of avulsed tooth, balanced diet, relation of oral health and general health, selection of proper tooth brush and tooth paste, importance of visiting a dentist etc were given. To increase awareness among teachers quiz competitions were organized. On this occasion talented teachers were recognized and felicitated. Patient awareness boards, posters and dental first aid kits were distributed in various schools.

On the occasion of Children’s day -2023 10 dental camps were organized with the theme “Ahh Se – Aha Thakwhich include  ZPHS, Uppalapadu; MPPS, Uppalapdu; Public Squalor (slum children) at  Nambur Highway; Sri Hanumanth Kali Vara Prasad baba trust school, Nambur; Auxillium English medium school, Guntur; SRM oriental high school, Guntur; Pattabhipuram high school, Guntur; Montessori English medium school, Guntur. One treatment camp was organized for special children at Prabhata Sindhuri rehabilitation center for the intellectually disabled, Guntur. Preventive treatment procedures were carried out for 24 children. As a part of educating the nursing staff and Anganwadi workers dental awareness camp was arranged at KSR college of Nursing, Peda Palakalluru in which 60 members were actively participated in the program.  Along with oral screening of 779 students various awareness activities were organized like- live demonstration on brushing technique and lectures on different changes that take place with age; importance of avoiding cariogenic diet; management of avulsed tooth; importance of physical exercise, water consumption, personal hygiene; relation of oral health and general health; selection of proper tooth brush and tooth paste; importance of regular dental visits were high lightened. As a part of recreational activity, competitions like drawing, painting, crosswords, quiz competitions were conducted and prizes were distributed to the winners.  

December

In Guntur, two school dental health camps were held at Sarada Niketanam Brodipet, Guntur on 12-12-2023 and Pradhamika Pathasala, Yadava Street, Old Guntur, Guntur on 13-12-23. Approximately 178 students were screened as part of the camp activities, which also included lectures on diet and dental caries, how dental caries progresses, how to manage avulsed teeth, how oral health and general health are related, how to choose the right toothbrush and toothpaste, how important it is to see a dentist, and other topics depending on the age of the participants.
