Ragging is a disturbing reality in the higher education system of our country. Despite the fact that over the years ragging has claimed hundreds of innocent lives and has ruined careers of thousands of bright students, the practice is still perceived by many as a way of ‘familiarization’ and an ‘initiation into the real world’ for young college-going students. So keeping that as consideration at Sibar Institute Dental Sciences has conducted an awareness program “Orientation Program on Anti-Ragging” to I BDS & II BDS students in coordination with MDEC by Dr. MEHABOOB SHAIK, member of Dental council of India. Sir has mentioned and made students aware that ragging has many aspects, like psychological, social, political, economic and cultural, and that it adversely impacts the standards of higher education. Sir had aware the students about Anti ragging and given advice to take all necessary measures for prevention of Ragging inside the Campus/ Hostel. The Moderator of the program was Dr. Sk. Parveen Sultana, Dr. P. Rohita from MDEC, Sibar Institute Dental Sciences. A total of 160 undergraduates of both I BDS and II BDS has attended the program and shared their insights. An in-depth discussion was done with question and answer interactive session
